Seisiun

The Malahide branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí na hÉireann held a lively seisiún in St Sylvester’s GAA club on Friday 28th of November.

These regular seisiún’s always prove to be a great success, allowing the students to showcase their talents and build confidence by playing with their peers. As always, they were supported by their family members in a non-competitive and encouraging environment. Also in attendance on the night were some of the members from our neighbouring branch in Kinsealy.  In the latter half of the seisiun, teachers and senior students played a selection of tunes. They maintained the energy and spirit of the night, through their inspirational and talented renditions of many traditional favourites.

The Malahide branch of Comhaltas holds classes for all ages, children and adults, on Saturday mornings in St Oliver Plunkett’s N.S. school, Malahide, between 9.15am and 12.00pm. Tuition is available in an array of instruments. These include fiddle, bodhran, tin whistle, harmonica, flute, concertina, guitar and box accordion. Classes are pitched at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. We welcome and encourage new members at all times. The new term will resume with registration and classes on Saturday 10th January 09. For more information call 086 2097594 or http://www.malahidecce.com

The branch wish to extend their thanks for the ongoing support of Sylvester’s GAA club and their new tenants Gibney’s of Malahide in their support of Malahide Comhaltas Ceoltóirí na hÉireann.

We wish all our members and hard working committee a very happy Christmas and look forward to a creative and productive new year ahead with the Malahide branch of Comhaltas.

Malahide & Kinsealy Comhaltas Summer trip to Cashel.

The Cashel trip will take place on Saturday 28th June. We will leave at around 9 o’clock am and travel to Holy Cross for a light snack and short music session. We will then travel on to Cashel to meet at Brú Ború. Weather permitting we will play music on the lawn.

We will pay a visit to the Rock of Cashel and be back for dinner and a Music and Dancing session with others before the show. After attending the main part of the show which finishes at 10.20pm, we will depart for Dublin to be home at 12.30/1.00am.

The cost after all discounts will be €40/€45 per head approx. Both Branches have agreed to subsidise the trip by around 50% so the actual cost per person will be €20. Kinsealy are running a fund raising Quiz at Campions Pub on Friday 20th June and all money will be collected and places confirmed by that night. The trip is open it to all members but we recommend that it is most suitable for 12 year old and upwards or those who have playing experience.

In order to help us with the organisation of the trip can you use the comments facility to provide your name and the number of tickets you require? To add a comment, click on the title of this post and you will be brought to a page with a comments box.
